Push-ups are a closed kinetic chain exercise that pit the body’s strength against the pull of the planet’s gravity well. As such they engage virtually all the muscles and tendons of the body’s front kinetic change and also engage the glutes, lower back and core. This is why they are such an intensive exercise. At the same time they deliver excellent physical fitness results.
